According to the results of May, Ukraine exported 65 percent of sugar to the EU, 35 percent to other countries. May record was set for the export of sugar per one month — Ukraine delivered 108,000 tonnes.
The acting Chairman of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar) Yana Kavushevska told about it at the Grain Ukraine 2024 conference.
“On May 30, the government introduced restrictions on the export of Ukrainian sugar to the EU, but I am pleased that our producers have restored their export way not only to Europe, but also to the global market (to the countries of the Mediterranean, West Africa),” said Kavushevska.
She also noted that the last sugarbeet season was not bad, and believes that sugarbeets will remain in the top three crops in terms of profitability and can become a good alternative to grain.
