Leadership Changes at Michigan Sugar

Michigan Sugar Co. has filled three leadership positions, and one key manager is set to retire in March, the company announced Feb. 2.

Pedro L. Figueroa has been named vice president of sales and will transition to vice president of marketing and sales when Jerry Coleman, current vice president of marketing, retires in March. Figeuroa most recently was divisional head at USA White Sugar for ED&F Man in Miami.

Lynnette Keller was named executive director of human resources. She has previously been with XALT Energy, Demmer Corp., Styron and Dow Corning Corp.

Rob Clark has been named director of communications and community relations. He had previously worked as editor of the Bay City Times in Bay City, Mich., where Michigan Sugar is located.

Michigan Sugar Co. board chairman Richard Gerstenberger, a grower from Snover, Mich., earlier in February was elected president of the American Sugarbeet Growers Association, which represents about 10,000 growers in 11 states.

Michigan Sugar Co., cooperatively owned by about 1,000 growers, operates four sugarbeet processing plants in Michigan with the capacity of producing more than 500,000 tons of sugar. The company operates three warehouses in Michigan and Ohio and an agricultural research center in Michigan.
