The USDA NASS has provided an update on the 2025 U.S. sugarbeet crop planting in its weekly crop progress report (https://www.nass.usda.gov/) from this week. Here’s a sample of what the latest report showed. Planting hasn’t started in some states so there is no report yet.
Michigan - Growers in the state have started planting with 1 percent of the beets in the ground, which is ever so slightly ahead of last year’s 0 percent but behind the five-year average of 4 percent.
Idaho – Idaho growers are making steady progress in sugarbeet planting with planting standing at 12 percent at the time of the report, slightly ahead of last year when planting was 11 percent done. The five-year average at 17 percent.
Oregon – Across the border in Oregon, 20 percent of the sugarbeet crop has been planted. Last year at this time, 73 percent of Oregon’s beets had been planted with the five-year average at 50 percent.
